History of our department
The department was established as “First Conservative Dentistry Department” in 1963, under supervision of the late Prof. Fusayama. In 1982, Prof. Hosoda became the department chairman. Prof. Tagami has been head of the department since 1995. The department changed to “Cariology and Operative Dentistry” in 2000, as a section of department of restorative sciences.
In the reorganized structure of the “Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences” since 2013, the “Cariology and Operative Dentistry” is part of Oral Health Sciences division.
