【歯科用OCTの有効性と可能性】 昨年6月に医科歯科大で開催された国際シンポジウム「歯科医学における光干渉断層計の応用」に関する記事が米国のビジネス誌のウェブサイトBioOpticsWorldに掲載されました。 光干渉断層計(OCT)は、すでに眼科学領域での応用は進んでいますが、歯科学領域でもむし歯の早期発見や投薬や補綴物によるむし歯治療の有効性の評価の ほか、これまで難しかった歯間むし歯の発見に効果があり、口腔がんの発見・治療への応用も期待されています。そして歯科用CAD/CAMシステムや3Dプ リンタと組み合わせることで、より短時間で安全な歯科補綴物を作成できるようになると期待されています。OCTが今後の歯科治療で広く使用されるために は、研究者と歯科医が協力しながら、最新の研究成果を発表し、治療方法の標準化を進めるなどして、一般の歯科医のOCT使用に際するハードルを下げること が必要です。
